We have several special events throughout the year, often in connection with wider church ministries.

Family Camp

Over the extended Labor Day weekend holiday, come to Family Camp, held at Camp Thunderbird in the beautiful Gila National Forest near Mimbres, NM (map). Members and friends of Desert View UCC join with other congregations for a weekend full of fun activities, area explorations, including the famous Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument, Gila Hot Springs, and Sunday worship under the magnificent pines or in the rough-hewn log lodge.

Summer Camp for Kids

Children and youth - and adults who love to volunteer at enriching, fun summer camps - have opportunities to meet new friends and deepen existing relationships with others throughout the Southwest Conference UCC.

Thanksgiving Alive!

Junior and senior high youth - and adults who love to mentor young people in cultural immersion and community service experiences - join with others throughout the Southwest Conference UCC during the weekend after Thanksgiving to learn about themselves, their relationships with God, and how they can make a difference in the world. See more about it on the Southwest Conference UCC web page.

Ecumenical Lenten Season Adult Education Series

Desert View UCC folks meet with intellectually and spiritually curious sisters and brothers of faith from other El Paso congregations for a simple potluck meal, presentation and discussion.

El Paso Sun City Pride

In June 2008 a handful of members of Desert View UCC carried our church banner in the city's gay pride parade, extending an extravagant welcome to all who might be seeking to find a spiritual community in which to participate, learn and grow. No doubt there will be other El Paso Sun City Pride parades in our future!

Special Announcement!

NOT YOUR REGULAR “BIBLE STUDY”! When you read the Gospels, you find lots of stuff that Christian tradition ignores or whitewashes, and things that don’t seem to make any sense. The Gospel According to Mark made sense to Mark because after all, he wrote it! If you love Christianity despite its tragic flaws, and you suspect that Jesus was onto something bigger and better than what either theologians or Jesus scholars have told us about, this weekly class beginning April 15 is for you. 7 PM Wednesdays @ Desert View United Church of Christ, 11160 Montwood Dr. (between Lee Trevino & George Deiter), El Paso 79936.
